Influencer Outreach Masterclass: How to reach out and convince influencers to promote your CPG brand
by Yash Chavan
Here’s a harsh truth you need to know about influencer marketing: Influencers are swamped with brand deals!
Their inboxes are bursting at the seams with requests from CPG brands just like yours. Everyone is vying for a slice of the influencer marketing pie – a marketing strategy that makes sense in the increasingly parasocial world of today.
With this barrage of demands, your messages can easily become another DM that gets ignored, struggling to shine amidst polished proposals from more seasoned players.
You might start feeling low, doubting your brand, or wondering if your approach is wrong. Or you could just be fed up, feeling like your efforts are a waste. Does that sound familiar? If yes, this blog post is made for you.
In this post, we’ll share how to reach out and get better responses from creators so you can convince them to promote your CPG brand so you can grow your business.
🤔 Do they like emails or direct messages (DMs)?
Choosing how to contact an influencer can seem like a tough decision to make. Should you DM them? Email? Or send a pigeon?
But here’s a quick and easy way to sort this out – just look at what they prefer!
A lot of influencers will let you know their preference in their bios. Some might have something like, “Email me for collabs,” while others might say, “DM for partnerships.” So, before you dive in, make sure to check their bio first.

Getting in touch the way influencers prefer shows that you respect their choices and most importantly they check those channels of connecting regularly.
It’s all about making them feel comfortable and respected – and that starts with reaching out in a way that suits them best.
If you’re targeting influencers with a big fanbase, it’s generally better to avoid DMs. Because your message could easily get buried under a pile of other DMs. Instead, sending an email might be a safer bet to make sure your message stands out.
When it comes to DMs, aim to get the influencer’s email address or draw their attention to an email you’ve already shot their way.
📨 How to find the email address of an influencer?
If you want to find the email address of your best influencer on Instagram, look for an email button on the influencer’s profile. Tap it and it will open your Gmail app with their email address pre-populated.

But there’s an easy, and quick way…
The SARAL free Chrome extension. Just install the extension on your browser, and with a couple of clicks, you can add influencers to a list and start your email campaigns directly from the platform.

What would otherwise take 10 minutes will only take 10 seconds with SARAL.
5️⃣ Steps to write a perfect outreach email to influencers
After you’ve gotten the email addresses of the influencers it’s time to write an email that not only gets opened but also read and responded to.
Here are simple steps to help you craft a perfect first outreach email to influencers:
1- Kick-Off with a personal touch 👋
Forget the generic greetings. Start by mentioning one of their posts or campaigns that really caught your eye. This tells them you’re invested in this potential partnership and you know your stuff.
2- Get to the main point 🎯
Next, talk about why you’re reaching out. Share your thoughts on why their unique style meshes with your brand and how collaboration could benefit both sides.
3- Show how it will benefit their audience 💃
Paint a picture of how your brand can complement what their followers love. Show that you’ve taken time to understand their audience and how your brand can fit into that narrative.
4- Show them what’s in it for them 🎟️
Now, turn the spotlight on the influencer.
What are the benefits for them? Beyond the financial aspect, there could be chances for personal development, creative exploration, or even backing a cause they deeply care about. This helps to cultivate a deeper, more genuine connection.
5- Wrap it with a soft CTA
End your email with a friendly suggestion that encourages them to respond but without any pressure. Some examples could be, “Can we chat about this more?”, “How about a call to discuss this further?” or “If you want more info, just drop me a reply.”
Here’s a quick template:
Hey [Influencer’s Name],
I was completely taken by your latest post on [something specific about their
content]. It’s not every day you see such creativity and authenticity!
I’m [Your Name] from [Your Brand], a brand that’s all about [what your brand
does]. Seeing your content, I can’t help but think how amazing it would be for
us to team up.
I believe your audience, who are so into [something their followers are
interested in], would really appreciate our [ product or service]. Plus, this
collaboration could offer you a chance to [mention non-monetary benefits].
If this piques your interest, how about we set up a call and discuss it
further?
Hope to hear from you soon!
🤞 Follow up to improve your chances of a response
Don’t just give up after sending the first email if you’ve not gotten a response.
It’s possible your email got lost in the crowd or they haven’t had a chance to reply yet. So, follow up with the influencers you’ve reached out to. Here’s a cadence you can follow:
- 3-day follow-up: Share more details about your partnership programs and successes with other influencers.
- 7-day follow-up: Highlight the benefits for the influencer and their audience, and why they should partner with your brand.
- Monthly check-in: Keep them in the loop with updates on your brand’s progress, new products, and upcoming campaigns.
But old-school methods like spreadsheets or manual reminders can lead to slip-ups, missed chances, and inefficiencies.
That’s where tools like SARAL come to the rescue.
It lets you pre-create your follow-up sequence and then delivers these messages at the right time, ensuring you never miss a key follow-up chance.

One more cool feature – SARAL automatically puts the brakes on follow-ups once an influencer replies, saving you from sending unnecessary emails.
With SARAL taking care of the follow-up hassle, you get more time to focus on what truly matters – nurturing relationships with influencers and growing your brand.
✨ Unlocking efficient and effective influencer marketing
Effective communication with influencers goes beyond a single email or DM. It’s about nurturing a relationship built on shared values, mutual benefits, and respect. The process might be unpredictable and challenging, but the benefits are immense.
For your next steps, reflect on your current influencer outreach strategies. Perhaps you could tweak your initial outreach email, or maybe your follow-up process needs a revamp.
