Sales Dashboard for UNFI, KeHE, and Whole Foods

Are you growing in retail but losing a grasp on what’s happening with your business?

I’ve found that once you surpass about 100 stores it becomes really challenging to understand what’s happening at each one. Here’s how to use a data platform to better understand velocity and optimize your best and worst performing stores:

Our friends at Glimpse has put together a FREE SALES DASHBOARD for measuring sales in KeHE, UNFI, and Whole Foods.

MEASURE VELOCITY BY SKU AND RETAILER

The most important metric you can track is your product’s velocity. As a brand, you need to identify what’s your optimal velocity per store and product, and then measure stores underperforming to make adjustments to your strategy. The sales dashboard allows you to track sales per store per week, getting an overall velocity metric along with velocity based on each individual store location. You can then see this by units and by dollars.
We can also measure how velocity is changing over time and tie that to seasonal changes or in-store promotions to measure lift. We can also identify products that are decreasing in velocity, which might indicate a strong initial trial but poor repeat purchase rate.

Let’s now break things down on a city level. Let’s look at our top and bottom performing cities by velocity. If we want, we can also look at how individual stores or individual products are doing.

From the data we can see that our best performing stores are selling 10x the amount of product as our least performing, which is a huge gap. We can now work with our marketing team to push demo’s and promotions in those lower performing stores to fill the gap.

Manage Inventory

Glimpse’s sales dashboard also allows you to track inventory across your distributors. This will help you know where product is at all times and where you may be over or understocked. Planning for a promotion? You may want to plan to have more inventory on hand.

Entering a slow period? Make sure you don’t have too much inventory there.
