Let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there. How did your company get started and why?

Matriarch Beverage Co. was born out a large shift in my personal and professional life after becoming a parent. I designed this company after my experience as a woman constantly in motion. Whether that was spending a lot of the time on the road, managing a multi-million dollar market or trying to keep up with a toddler, the need for clean, convenient energy that fit with my lifestyle was ever present. While there were a lot of choices on the market, there was nothing that spoke to me directly. I created this company as a way to not only fill this gap for women like me, but to be a catalyst for change within health and wellness. At Matriarch Beverage Co. we aim to bring health and harmony to everyone through beverage.

What is your product and how would you describe it?

Our first brand, a|dash, are ready-to-drink functional cold brewed coffees. Our hero ingredient is adaptogens, and we have designed each sku to be low in calories, low in carbs, have no added sugar and a daily serving of adaptogens, in order to help balance your body and mind.

How have you pivoted your business this year?

We had planned to launch locally in retail and focus on demos to drive trial and demand, but due to Covid, we are launching with an e-commerce site and focusing on social and digital marketing to drive brand recognition and trial.

What is your next challenge to overcome?

Our biggest challenge will be revising retail and office strategy to encompass an omnichannel approach that will meet the needs of consumers where they are currently shopping.

What do you predict for the food industry over the rest of the year?

I predict that health and wellness will be driving innovation and new product launches. Most importantly functional trends related to immunity-boosting and stress relief within both food and beverage.
