“Let’s start at the beginning….question”
How did your company get started and why?
I began making this granola over 20 years ago when store bought granola tended to disappoint in both flavor and nutrients. A friend of mine gave me this recipe and I gave it a health makeover and made it our own. My kids loved it and Ben suggested we share it beyond our immediate family because of the clean, healthy, tasty ingredients. “Ben has always had an entrepreneurial bent”.
What is your product and how would you describe it?
PremOla Granola is a nutritiously delicious blend of nuts, seeds, and oats. Our gluten free granola is low in sugar, full of healthy fats and protein that will keep you full and energized. It is made with premium nuts and all real ingredients. We also partnered with a local chocolate company to make an organic, premium dark chocolate with our granola on top. We have 2 granola blends – Original and Salted Pecan and 2 chocolate bars.
What business challenges have you faced in the last year?
Our lack of CPG knowledge.
What is your next challenge to overcome?
Updating our packaging, website, gaining more wholesale accounts, brand strategy. Our main issue is time as Ben is also in college and I work full time in addition to PremOla. There is so much to learn.
What do you predict for the food industry over the rest of the year?
I see an emphasis on local food, food co-ops and knowing where your food comes from.
