My name is Tina Chamoun and I founded Terranean Herbs & Spices to bring the real za’atar herb to the USA Market, starting with Cleveland, OH, where I make my za’atar seasoning shakers, spreads and pita chip snacks.

I launched my business when I noticed there was a void in the American Marketplace for authentic za’atar, like what I grew up enjoying in my family village, the same za'atar we would fill our suitcases with for our return. Especially at a time when consumers were embracing different cultures and their cuisines. It was an opportunity to create a product that would bring consumers closer to our culture, since za'atar is delicious, versatile, healthy, while also increasing representation of true Lebanese and Middle Eastern products in American markets and grocery stores.

It was important for me to provide products that were authentic, premium, and a true representation of my culture and heritage, the same quality of products I enjoy with my family.

Importantly, it is also an opportunity to support the all women, immigrant team I work with in Cleveland to make the products. Through this business I am providing them with familiar work (za’atar) in an unfamiliar area when they first move here.  They feel a sense of community and belonging through our work.

I am passionate about teaching consumers about za’atar, a staple in not just the Middle Eastern pantry, but our heritage as well, and increasing representation in American Markets.
